A natural end of corridor AOV system is a prescriptive, code compliant solution aligned to Approved Document B.
Smoke is extracted from common escape corridors to atmosphere via EN12101-2 compliant end of corridor smoke vents (NSHEV’s) with an aerodynamic free area of 0.9 sq’m.
The escape stair contains a 0.7 sq/m AOV at the head to exhaust any smoke that follows the occupant from the corridor and provide replacement air to assist the corridor smoke vents.
