A roof opening to exhaust smoke at the head of a smoke shaft is required to provide either 1.0 or 1.5 sq/m of geometric free area. When utilised at the head of an escape or fire-fighting stair it provides 0.7 sq/m aerodynamic free area (1.0 sq/m geometric) and 0.9 sq/m aerodynamic free area (1.5 sq/m geometric) when exhausting smoke from a corridor on the top floor.

- Lid Insulation is available in non-combustible mineral wool, polyisocyanurate insulation and uninsulated variants
- Curb insulation is available in thermally broken insulated metal to achieve a U-value as low as 1.0 W/m²k or uninsulated versions
