British Heart Foundation fundraising doesn’t miss a beat with SE Controls

SE Controls is proud to announce that the charity of the year for 2018 is the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
 
Each year staff at SE Controls select a charity to be the focus for fundraising activities from a shortlist of good causes put forward by fellow employees, and over the last ten years over £27,000 has been raised for various beneficiaries. The British Heart Foundation was chosen for 2018 following its nomination by Charlotte Carpenter, Senior Coordinator (Delivery) for the company.
 
Charlotte, who is also this year’s ‘charity champion’, has seen the fund raising get off to a flying start following a range of well supported initiatives that have included an ‘Easter Bake Off’ sale of home made treats, a sponsored ‘De-Chox’ where Charlotte and colleagues gave up chocolate during March, as well as a Grand National sweepstake.
 
In addition, Charlotte has also embarked on a personal sponsored weight loss challenge and has already lost 2.5 stones (15.9 kg) in the past 3 months. She explained: “Heart disease is indiscriminate and can affect anyone. I lost my father in 2017 from a unexpected heart attack, which is why the BHF’s work is so important to me and many of my colleagues, some of whom have also had similar experiences.”
 
She added: “It’s great that we’re all doing something positive. The support and involvement that has already been shown is fantastic and we’ve got lots more fund raising challenges coming up that will be fun, as well as helping us get even closer to our target.”
 
Still to come on the fundraising calendar are various charity car boot sales, a charity raffle with a week’s stay in a Spanish villa as top prize and even a charity leg waxing for the company’s Group Managing Director.
